An investigation is underway following the unexplained death of a man in the Whangārei suburb of Te Kamo.

Emergency services were called to Carr St about 10.35am after a man was found dead in a property.

Detective Senior Sergeant Shane Pilmer said the investigation was in its early stages, but the death was being treated as unexplained.

“Police have put a scene guard in place at the address overnight,” he said.

“As part of inquiries, a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.”
