Police investigate possible gang-related stabbing in Wairarapa

Police are investigating after a man with stab wounds checked himself in at Wairarapa Hospital this morning.

It is thought the 20-year-old man was stabbed between 1am and 1.30am this morning , police said.

Due to the serious nature of the man's injuries he was flown to Wellington Hospital for surgery. He is now in a stable condition.

Masterton Police are seeking information from the public.

The incident is believed to be gang-related, Detective Sergeant Dean Cadwallader said.

Police have limited information but will keep a visible presence in "areas of interest" while they investigate the stabbing, Cadwallader said.
