Police in Wellington are hunting a man for breaching bail.

Darren Roger Miller, 41, is on the run and police now have a warrant for his arrest.

"He is believed to be in the Hutt Valley area and is actively avoiding police,'' a statement said.

The public is warned not to approach Miller, but to contact authorities immediately if they see him.

Anyone who knows of his whereabouts is urged to contact police.

Miller is described as being of solid build and stands about 184cm tall.
