CALLED OUT:Masterton police went to a home in Montgomery Place in the town early yesterday after fielding
several calls from neighbours about the disorderly and violent behaviour of some party-goers.
Police arrested several people after a late night gathering spilled disorderly and violent party-goers on to a Masterton street early yesterday.
Acting sergeant Kerry Fitzgerald said officers made up to three arrests after multiple reports were fielded about the behaviour of some party-goers at a Montgomery Place home about 2.30amyesterday.
A Masterton man, 23, was arrested at the scene and held in custody in relation to the incident and was to appear in Masterton District Court today on disorderly behaviour charges.
He said police had later yesterday interviewed party-goers about reports of violence at the scene and an alleged assault.
"We took calls from neighbours about either the 23-year-old male's behaviour or the behaviour of several males. There was violence and we're investigating what happened in the house and in the street."
Masterton police also attended a road crash involving two vehicles at the corner of Queen and Russell streets in the town at about 12.20pm on Saturday.
An ambulance took a woman and child to Wairarapa Hospital from one of the vehicles and at least one occupant of the other vehicle was also taken to hospital.
Traffic was diverted from the crash scene for about half an hour while firefighters cleared crash debris from the site.
Police and firefighters had also been called about an hour earlier to a two car collision on the Rimutaka Hill Rd. There were no injuries reported from the incident and traffic had been only briefly interrupted while the scene was cleared.
Police had been called as well to a crash site on Nireaha Rd just before 11pm on Saturday after a driver lost control of his car and struck a power pole. The pole was toppled and firefighters cordoned and made the area safe ahead of a repair team's arrival. The moderately injured driver was taken from the scene in an ambulance.
