A tagger who had been sought after a spate of arsons in Christchurch has been arrested.
Police said the man was no longer a suspect and had been charged with intentional damage.
The tagger became a suspect in the arsons investigation after his tag: 'dtek', was seen splashed across Aranui, where a number of fires had been lit.
Over the past three weeks there have been a spate of arsons of residential properties in Aranui, Wainoni and Avondale - with seven fires alone lit between 12.44am and 1.42am last Saturday in Aranui - two of which had people asleep inside.
A red-stickered property in Linwood was also set on fire on Sunday.
Community facilities have also been targeted, including the Canterbury Rowing Association's boat shed and the Aranui Community Dental Clinic, Avondale School and Kids First Learning Centre.
Arsonists struck again yesterday, setting fire to a vacant flat in Linwood.
