Police arrest armed man after threatening occupants in Northland home

The Armed Offenders Squad and emergency services were on standby while police negotiated with an armed man threatening people inside a Northland property last night.

A police spokeswoman told the Herald last night a family member was threatening people with a weapon inside an address on Tavinor Rd, near Otaika.

She said police were called to the incident before 7pm and members of the public are not being threatened.

This morning a police spokeswoman said the incident was resolved around midnight.

A 27-year-old man was taken into custody without incident, she said.
