Pizzas on hold after rubbish fire

A fire in a rubbish container behind Masterton's Pizza Hut on Sunday evening meant a cold wait for customers on Chapel St.

Firemen swiftly doused the blaze, which had started before 6pm in a large caged mobile bin used to discard cardboard.

A staff member, sporting a bloody "fire warden" tunic, said he had discovered the fire and cut himself punching the fire alarm.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
