Later yesterday a Wellington Hospital spokesman said the man remained in serious condition in the intensive care unit.
More details on how the accident occurred were not available.
Guy Didsbury of Pirinoa Station confirmed there had been an accident at the farm but would not comment further.
A spokeswoman for the Department of Labour confirmed it was investigating the incident, but was unable to give further details as the inquiry was under way.
Wairarapa police Senior Sergeant Warwick Burr said he was unaware of the accident or whether police attended, and would not be able to provide information until today.
The accident comes two weeks after the death of Shane White, 10, who was killed in a quad bike accident on a South Wairarapa farm.
Shane was found under the quad bike by his father on a Kahutara Rd property on October 10.
He was unable to be revived and the death has been referred to the coroner.
