TVNZ is investigating an incident between One News' Australian correspondent Hannah Hodson and US pop star Pink.
The Weekend Herald understands a physical fracas erupted with Pink's management when Hodson was interviewing the singer at the InterContinental Hotel in Sydney on Thursday afternoon.
It is believed the interview turned ugly when Hodson began grilling Pink over why she fired Hodson's sister, who had worked with the pop star.
The interview was stopped, and Pink and her minder demanded the videotape. Hodson and her cameraman refused, and the minder and the two TVNZ employees physically fought for the tape.
The Weekend Herald could not confirm who won the fight for the tape.
Pink was shaken and defensive after the incident, the Weekend Herald has been told.
TVNZ spokeswoman Megan Richards said last night the broadcaster was investigating an employment matter "that is to do with an incident between Hannah Hodson and the management of Pink".
Because the incident was now an employment matter, TVNZ could make no further comment, Ms Richards said.
Hodson, a journalist of 10 years' experience in print, radio and television, was asked to resign from TV3 in 2004.
After the disappearance of 25-year-old Auckland model Iraena Asher at Piha, Hodson faxed a transcript of Ms Asher's 111 call to police, identifying the whistleblower who had leaked the transcript.
TV3 news boss Mark Jennings said at the time that Hodson's behaviour was "against every journalistic principle known".
Ms Richards said Hodson would return to Auckland this weekend to give her account of the Pink interview to TVNZ management.
Pink, 29, is known for her rebellious image and edgy pop music.
She was in Sydney promoting her latest album, Funhouse.
Pink's record label, Sony BMG, did not return calls last night.
