Pine cone attack in Tauranga

Two Tauranga 17-year-olds have been charged with endangering transport after allegedly throwing pine cones at cars and putting pieces of wood with nails sticking out of them on a city road.

Police were alerted about 3am yesterday when a taxi had a cone thrown through an open window along Cameron Rd at Gate Pa.

Branches and slabs of wood had been also been placed on the road.

Senior Sergeant Ross Bielby said the teenagers were tracked by police dog to a nearby address. They were bailed to appear in the Tauranga District Court next week.
