Person shot at East Auckland restaurant, doors closed as investigation under way

An Auckland restaurant where a man was seriously injured in a shooting is closed for the day following the attack.

Police were called at 9.46pm on Thursday after three men entered a bar on Dunrobin Pl and assaulted a man before a shot was fired.

The incident occurred at Applejack’s Bar and Eatery in Highland Park.

Today, the restaurant had locked its doors, posting on social media it would not be opening.

The venue was to open for business at 10am, but will reopen on Saturday.

A man who answered the door declined to comment.

As of late this morning, there was no police presence at the site, and the venue appeared as normal, with chairs stacked on tables.

Workers at other businesses nearby were not aware of last night’s shooting.

“One person received a serious injury and was transported to hospital,” a police spokesperson said.

Inquiries into the circumstances of the incident, and who is responsible, are continuing.
