Person seriously hurt in motorcycle crash on Shipwreck Bay beach, Northland

A person has been seriously injured in a motorbike crash on Shipwreck Bay beach, near Ahipara.

The crash happened on the beach about 1km south of the end of Wreck Bay Rd about 5pm, a police spokeswoman said.

A St John ambulance spokeswoman said a chopper had been sent to the scene.
