Person in serious condition after incident at St Clair beach in Dunedin

A person has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after an incident at a Dunedin beach.

Police said they were called to The Esplanade, St Clair, just before 11am today to assist St John Ambulance after reports of a person injured on the beach.

Hato Hone St John said they were notified of an incident at 10.48am, responding with an ambulance and rapid response vehicle.

One patient was assessed at the scene and taken to Dunedin Hospital in a serious condition.
