Person hit by their own car at Wairarapa cemetery

The accident happened within the grounds of the Greytown Cemetery in Wairarapa.

A woman is in Wellington Hospital with serious leg injuries after her own car rolled on top of her at a cemetery.

Emergency workers found the woman pinned under the car at Greytown Cemetery in Wairarapa.

She was taken to hospital by Wellington's Westpac rescue helicopter.

Emergency services were called at about 9.15am.

"She had been hit by her own car. It's not clear how that happened," a police spokeswoman said.
