Person dies after water incident at Dunedin’s St Clair Beach

One person has died after being pulled from the water at a popular Dunedin beach.

Emergency services were called to St Clair Beach in South Dunedin shortly before midday.

The person was unresponsive when pulled from the water. Despite emergency medical treatment, they died at the scene.

The death had been referred to the coroner.
