Person dies after Stanmore Bay crash on Whangaparāoa Peninsula

One person has died after a single-vehicle crash in a coastal suburb on Auckland’s Whangaparāoa Peninsula.

Police said emergency services were called to Vipond Rd in Stanmore Bay at around 10.25am.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Vipond Rd is closed between Doyly Drive and Lea Place.

The spokesperson said the Serious Crash Unit was attending and inquiries into the circumstances of the crash were ongoing.

RNZ has reported that a car crashed into a hedge.
