Person dead after falling down cliff on North Shore

A person is dead after apparently falling about 20 metres down a cliff on Auckland's North Shore.

Takapuna and Birkenhead fire crews were still at the scene near Kauri Point, by the Chelsea Sugar Factory, where they used ropes to retrieve the body, Fire Service spokesman Paul Radden said.

A high angle rescue team was on stand-by but they would probably not be needed, he said.
