Person dead after being hit by car in Avonhead, Christchurch

Christchurch Police are investigating the death of a person in the suburb of Avonhead.

Emergency services received reports a person had been seriously injured by a vehicle on Bevington St about 5.30pm on Saturday.

The person later died at the scene.

Police said they were last night speaking to those involved and inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the crash.
