Person critical after car and truck crash in Waihi

A person is in critical condition after a crash involving a car and truck in Waihi.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Martin Rd about 1.50pm.

The critically injured person had to be cut from their vehicle by firefighters. A helicopter is on the way to fly them to hospital.

A Police spokeswoman said there were reports of a traffic pole or similar also being involved in the crash.

The Serious Crash Unit and Commercial Vehicle Investigation Unit have been called to the crash.
