People quick to get rid of their unwanted presents

Before the wrapping paper was put away and the leftovers attacked on Boxing Day, people had got in early looking to make a buck or two from their unwanted Christmas presents.

By 9am today, there were already plenty for sale on a search of "unwanted Christmas presents" on Trade Me.

So far unable to attract a $1 starting bid was a ceramic Christmas tree salt shaker being offered by Aucklander Aida.

She was also selling a teddy bear and a 6kg sack of rice.

North Shore resident Erin was apparently unhappy with her Christmas haul of jewellery, looking to dispose of a silver photo locket and a topaz nine-carat gold ring.

Attracting a lot of interest was a new iRiver MP3 player -- eight bids by mid-morning.

A Blokart sand yacht was up for grabs at $2000 and other items included a DVD of that old Christmas favourite Death Becomes Her.
