Mark Aitken is joining Software Consultants Ltd as business development manager. He has an international background in business solutions and marketing consultancy.

Chris Lindsay has become a director of chartered accountants Horwath Porter Wigglesworth Ltd. He has been with the firm for 12 years.

Rudi Kats is replacing Nigel Grindall as sales manager of the international vehicle auction network Aucsat. He has a background in wholesale and retail sales management, vehicle importing and exporting, and financial services. Mr Grindall has resigned to undertake full-time study for his MBA.

HSBC has transferred Simon Edwards from London to Auckland to become chief executive of its New Zealand operations. He has held many senior positions with the HSBC Group in Hong Kong, Taipei, France, New York and London.

Glen Nightingale has been made a partner of Burns McCurrach. He joined the firm in 1996 and has experience in corporate accounting, business restructuring and due diligence assignments.

Bartercard New Zealand Ltd's new managing director is Roy Netzer, who was with Bartercard Christchurch. He has a BSc and a masters degree in business and marketing from Tel Aviv University, and served as a captain in the Israeli Army for five years before coming to New Zealand. He replaces Ian Jones who has been transferred to the United States to start up the Bartercard operation there.

Shell New Zealand's Auckland regional retail manager, Stephen Foster, has been promoted to retail and marketing manager, responsible for some 400 retail outlets throughout the country. Mr Foster is a director of Shell New Zealand Ltd, Tasman Pacific Foods Restaurants Ltd and Loyalty Pacific NZ Ltd.

Patricia Wardill has become a partner in law firm Turner Hopkins Albany. She has a background in general legal practice.

Greta Matthews and Clive Smith have joined the Auckland head office of Hawkins Construction. Ms Matthews was with the Navy and will work in training and personnel development, while Mr Smith will be involved in business development.

David Lockhart has become a partner in the commercial team of Auckland law firm Brookfields. He has had 10 years in the electricity and gas industries here and in Britain.

Professional company chairman, director and lawyer Brian Corban is the new chairman of the Auckland City Mission Board. He replaces Mary Whaley who held the position for 18 months.

Brett Davis is the new general manager, northern region, of Excell Corporation. He was general manager of Chubb Building Services and has also worked for Auckland Healthcare and Freightways Group. Jim Dennis becomes regional property services manager and Stan Hodson regional roading manager.

Lloyd Davy has joined Communicado's Active Shopper Network as sales and marketing director. He been in advertising sales and marketing and was with the Newspaper Sales Bureau.

The general manager of Walker Datavision, Paul Ryan, has taken up the newly-created position of chief executive officer of Walker Wireless Ltd. He has a background in data acquisition and information technology. John Davies, who was with the Land Transport Safety Authority, replaces him. Mr Davies has also worked for Whitcoulls, Giltrap Motor Group.
