Pedestrian struck by truck in Tauranga

A man is in a critical condition tonight after being hit by a truck in the early hours of this morning in Tauranga.

Emergency services were called to State Highway 2, on the Tauranga Harbour Bridge, just after 4.30am.

He was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

A spokeswoman for Waikato Hospital said at 9pm the man was in a critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit.
