Pedestrian killed by vehicle in rural Canterbury

A person is dead after being struck by a vehicle in rural Canterbury this afternoon.

Emergency services were notified about the incident on Carrs Rd in Loburn, north of Rangiora, at 3.39pm, a Fire Service spokesman said.

It was believed a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle and died at the scene.

Police had taken over the scene.
