A pedestrian hit by a car just after he got off a bus south of Auckland this morning has died in hospital, police say.
The 53-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital in a critical condition after he was struck by a car in Karaka, southwest of Papakura, about 7.50am.
The
man was on his way to work, had just got off the bus and was trying to cross the road when he was hit by the car.
Counties Manukau police this evening said the man had died in hospital.
It was a "truly horrific day" on the region's roads, they said.
