Patio heaters recalled

An outdoor gas heater recalled by Mitre 10 is the same model linked to the deaths of a Taumarunui couple in July.

The hardware retailer on Wednesday announced the recall of its Meteor tabletop patio gas heater, of which 2000 have been sold since 2006.

It says the carbon monoxide levels emitted may be unsafe in an indoor or unvented environment.

The recall affects heaters with SKU numbers 082824, 082825, 083532 and 083533.
