The parents of a baby who died after allegedly being unrestrained in a car that crashed have been charged.
Mary and Titus Navacilla were charged last week with failing to provide the necessities to prevent injury.
Their 12-week-old daughter, Alexandria, died when their car hit a bank on State Highway 4 near Aria in Waikato on May 19.
The baby girl, known as Lexie, was one of six people in the five-seater Honda hatchback.
She died in Auckland's Starship Hospital several hours after the accident.
Before the charges were laid, Mary Navacilla told the Herald on Sunday: "I want this all to be finished. I don't think I can move on from what happened," she said.
The driver of the car, Nilo Frias, has been charged with careless driving causing death and will appear in court next week.
Mary added that Lexe was the couple's "happiness", but her focus was now on their 3-year-old son Gabriel.
Earlier this year, Mary told the Herald on Sunday that she hoped other parents would not make the same mistake as they did.
"We have already got a life sentence and we don't want what happened to us to happen to other parents, we don't want them to feel the same pain," she said.
The Navacillas will appear in the Te Kuiti District Court next month.
