A paraglider was seriously injured after plunging about 9m to the ground near Arrowtown last night.
''The guy was doing manoeuvres and something went wrong and he fell 30 feet to the ground,'' Senior Constable Terry Erceg said.
The man was able to talk after the accident at Flight Park,
a popular landing area for paraglider pilots flying from Coronet Peak, Erceg said.
However, any injuries he might have sustained would not be known until he was X-rayed.
St John said it was called at 6.45pm and took a seriously injured man in his 20s to Lakes District Hospital.
