Pams beef lasagne recalled as it has wrong use-by date

A ready-made beef lasagna is being recalled after the incorrect use-by date was put on it – out by two months.

Kiwis are being warned to dispose of or get a refund for Pams Beef Lasagne labelled with a use-by date of May 1.

New Zealand Food Safety (NZFS) is supporting Foodstuffs in its recall of the popular dinner meal, with concerns over health hazards caused by the wrong date.

NZFS deputy director-general Vincent Arbuckle said it’s incorrect by two months.

“It should have been March 1, which is this Sunday, but instead it is incorrectly labelled as May 1,” he said.

“These products should not be eaten after Sunday. You can return them to the place of purchase for a refund. If that’s not possible, throw them out.”

The affected lasagne is the Pam’s 1.3kg option with May 01 as the expiry date, sold at Four Square, New World and Pak’nSave supermarkets across the North Island.

The product was imported from Australia and has been removed from shelves.

The mistake is to be investigated by NZFS and Foodstuffs.
