Palmerston North: Man killed by train

A man is dead after being struck be a train in Palmerston North this morning.

The man, aged in his 40s, was on the tracks below the Gillespies Line over bridge when he was hit by a northbound freight train just after 3am.

Police aren't clear if he was walking on the tracks or fell from the over bridge.

His identity is yet to be confirmed but police hope to release more information later today.
