The two Carterton teams contesting Netball Wairarapa's premier one competition had exciting one-goal wins at the Colombo Road courts in Masterton on Saturday.
Carterton New World Lynx led Pioneer Blue by nine goals at halftime but the latter slowly but surely bridged the gap over the next two quarters and in a thrilling finish it was Lynx who prevailed 45-44.
The Carterton New World Legends v St Matthew's Collegiate A match was a high scoring affair with 109 goals being scored and Legends having their noses in front when it mattered most, winning 55-54.
A close battle was also anticipated when Makoura College and Wairarapa College A locked horns but, as it happened, Makoura ran out comfortable winners 41-29.
Defending champions Harcourts kept their unbeaten record intact when they won by default from Baywide Gladstone.
