The three-bedroom home on Benders Ave, Hillcrest, was sold at an auction that was brought forward because of the high level of interest.
The owners, who have moved overseas, had at least six pre-auction offers before their home went under the hammer on Thursday. It sold for $876,000 - almost double its valuation.
The property, built in 1960, is valued at $455,000. The owners bought it for $650,000 a year ago.
The house, which has a sleepout, is in a cul-de-sac on a 954sq m flat section. It is situated in the Takapuna Normal Intermediate, Westlake Girls and Boys High Schools zones.
