An osteopath faces 15 charges of sexual offending allegedly committed against seven of his patients.
Police say their investigation is ongoing.
Richard James Davis of Gisborne has been charged with 11 counts of indecent assault against females aged over 16, and four counts of unlawful sexual connection against females agedover 16.
The charges cover a period ranging from June 2004 to March 2012.
The 52-year-old appeared before a registrar in Gisborne District Court and his name suppression has since lapsed.
Davis entered no pleas and was further remanded until May 23.
Bail was granted, with conditions attached in relation to offering treatment to women and informing patients of the nature of the charges laid against him.
