Special Olympics Wairarapa are rapt with the public response to their fundraising efforts to send a team to the 2013 nationals in Dunedin.
Head coach Gaylene van Wijk said the organisation had received wonderful support from local businesses and Idea Services in setting up two basket raffles containinga wide variety of goodies valued at more than $400 per basket.
Other raffles of a similar kind are planned for the new year as SOW looks to raise the $2000 cost per athlete - including travel, accommodation, food and entry fees - for the 23 members aiming to compete at the Dunedin event.
Medal winners at the nationals will qualify for the World Games to be held in California in 2015.
