Opposition to beautification of Picton's Shelly Beach

The Guardians of the Sounds lobby group has attacked Marlborough District Council plans to beautify Picton's Shelly Beach.

Spokesman Peter Beech said if the development went ahead it would benefit only Port Marlborough and Marlborough District Council by catering for visiting millionaires on their super yachts.

The council's assets and services department is seeking a resource consent to construct a seawall and a covered viewing platform over the beach.
