One seriously injured in crash near Palmerston North

One person has been seriously injured in a crash near Palmerston North this morning.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Cambridge Avenue and Napier Rd, in Ashhurst, just before 9am.

A police spokeswoman said the crash involved a truck.

She said one person had suffered serious injuries and was trapped inside a vehicle.

The Fire Service has been called to the scene to help remove the person safely.

As a result of the accident, traffic has been reduced to one lane.

Motorists in the area are encouraged to find an alternative route or expect delays.
