One person seriously injured in two-car crash near Mt Cook

One person has been flown to hospital in a serious condition after a two-car crash on a South Island highway near Mt Cook.

Emergency services were called to the crash at 10.45am on Tekapo-Twizel Rd (State Highway 8), near the Mt Cook Rd turnoff, a police spokeswoman said.

The road has reopened but traffic is down to one lane.

There are reports of traffic delays.
