One person seriously injured following crash involving car and motorcycle in Whakatane

One person is being rushed to Whakatane Hospital with serious injuries following a crash involving a car and a motorcycle.

Police are at the scene of the crash, which happened on State Highway 2 in Whakatane, shortly before 1pm.

"Initial indications are one person has been injured," police said in a statement.

Traffic control measures were being put in place.

The serious crash unit had been advised.
