One person seriously injured after armed police swarm street in Papakura, Auckland

Armed police have been called to an incident in the South Auckland suburb of Papakura after a person suffered serious injuries.

Police said emergency services were called to reports of a person injured on Marne Rd about 3pm.

“Initial reports suggest a possible weapon may have been used at the scene,“ they said.

“Armed police are attending the incident out of caution.”

Members of the public are advised to avoid the Marne Road area, and officers have cordons in place for safety.

Hato Hone St John said crews were notified of the incident at 3.02pm.

“We responded two rapid response units, one ambulance and one manager to the scene.

“Our crews assessed and treated one patient, who was transported to Middlemore Hospital in a serious condition.”
