One person dies after falling from a car near Whangārei

One person has died in Northland after apparently falling from a vehicle.

Police were called to the incident in Whareora just after 4pm.

"It is believed that a person has fallen from a vehicle," a police spokesperson said.

"One person has died at the scene."

Whareora Road has been closed between Clapham Road and Abbey Caves Road.

The Serious Crash Unit is in attendance.
