One person dead after serious crash in South Canterbury, north of Timaru

One person is dead after a two-car crash on the Temuka-Orari Highway in South Canterbury.

The crash occurred about 2.30pm today.

Another person was moderately injured and was airlifted to hospital while two other people suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

The highway was closed while the serious crash unit works at the scene.

It has now been reopened.

It followed another fatal crash in the area just weeks ago.

Ricky James Foster, 34, of Temuka was killed in a crash near Winchester at 12.05am on February 20.
