One person was killed and two others were last night in hospital after a head-on crash north of Auckland.
Emergency services were called to State Highway 1, just north of Robertson Rd, Wellsford, about 6.30pm to find that one person died at the scene.
Northern ambulance spokesman Keith Hall said
a woman in her 20s suffered serious injuries and was flown by Westpac helicopter to Auckland Hospital. Another person suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to North Shore Hospital.
Police said they could not give further details.
The accident happened near the Wellsford Golf Club just north of Dome Valley, a notorious spot for deadly crashes.
