One injured in suspicious Christchurch fire

The Fire Service is investigating a suspicious house fire in Christchurch which injured an occupant this morning.

Fire Service southern communications shift manager Jan Wills said crew were called to the small property fire on Cuffs Rd in Wainoni at 1.49am.

Three fire service appliances were called, with 10 firefighters tackling the blaze.

Ms Wills said an occupant had been taken to Christchurch Hospital with airway burns.

Fire safety will be investigating the cause of the fire today.
