One injured in crash involving fire truck in downtown Auckland

A member of the public has been injured in a crash involving a fire truck heading to an emergency in the Auckland CBD.

Emergency services were called to a crash just after 9.30am at the intersection of Hobson St and Victoria St West.

Northern fire communications shift manager Ryan Geen confirmed the crash involved one of their fire truck crews heading to a fire alarm alert in the city.

He said a person had suffered minor injuries in the crash. No fire crew members were injured.

The fire truck itself had been damaged and a tow truck had been called to remove it from the area.

At the site, the second vehicle has hit a pole outside a block of shops on Victoria St West. The small car has a visibly damaged front.

Emergency personnel, including police and Hato Hone St John, were all called to the scene.

Police said officers are helping with traffic management in the area and motorists should expect some delays.
