One person has been injured after a bus accident in the Auckland suburb of Westgate this evening.

A police spokesperson said emergency services received reports about 6.35pm of a collision between a bus and a pedestrian near Westgate Drive.

One witness on Facebook said: “He was right behind the bus when it happened.”

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said an ambulance and a rapid response unit were sent to the scene.

“We transported one person in a moderate condition to North Shore Hospital.”

An Auckland Transport (AT) spokesperson said the organisation was saddened to hear about the incident.

“Our thoughts are with the injured person and their family.

“AT will be working closely with NZ Police, other emergency services, and the bus operator to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
