One dead, one injured in Clevedon, Auckland crash

One person is dead and another injured after a car hit a tree near Clevedon this morning.

The crash occurred on North Rd, about five kilometres north of Clevedon, at 11.40am, police say.

The injured person is being treated at the scene.

The Serious Crash Unit is in attendance and the road has been closed.

Diversions are in place at the Clevedon roundabout and Maraetai Coast Rd.

Police have asked drivers to avoid travel in the area if possible and to expect some delays.
