There are reports of multiple crashes this morning.

One person is dead after a crash in Waiuku.

Police were notified of the single-vehicle crash on Kairoitahi Rd at 5.20am, Inspector Kerry Watson said.

One person died at the scene, he said.

The road was still closed, but should be opened soon, he said.

Diversions were in place.

Last night another person died after their car ploughed into a large sign in the Hamilton suburb of Frankton, NewstalkZB reports.

The incident happened in Hall Rd around 11pm.

Another crash on State Highway 1 near Kaiwaka is causing delays. The road remains open but is down to a single lane, NZTA said.

A crash is also partially blocking the Southern Motorway south-bound onramp at Ellerslie, Auckland, the New Zealand Transport Agency said.

Emergency services were on scene, it said on Twitter.
