One dead in South Auckland house fire

Police are investigating after a man's body was found in a burning building south of Auckland last night.

Firefighters were called to the property on Koheroa Rd, Mangatawhiri, about 10pm and found a house burning fiercely, police said.

They found a man's body inside the house about midnight.

Police were last night speaking with witnesses and would be conducting a forensic examination of the scene.

It was too early to confirm the man's identity, or to say whether the fire was suspicious.
