A person has died after a logging truck collided with a car on State Highway 1 near Oakleigh, south of Whangarei, this morning.
Fire, police and ambulances raced to the accident which happened at 7.15am on Smeatons Hill, south of Portland Rd.
One person travelling in the car died at
the scene.
Police say there are no other injuries.
The crash has blocked both lanes of the highway and diversions are in place on Mangapai Rd and Maungakaramea Rd.
