One dead in fatal crash near Gore

One person has died and another has been injured after a single vehicle crash near Gore.

Emergency services were notified of the crash, on Donald Road, Maitland, at 7:59pm.

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating and the road is closed while the scene is cleared.

It was the first of two fatal crashes on New Zealand roads tonight.

The second, in south Auckland, happened about 10.30pm. Three cars collided at the intersection of Te Irirangi Dr, Cavendish Rd and Great South Rd.

One of the vehicles was fleeing police when the crash occurred. One person died in the Auckland crash and another five were injured, one critically.​
