One dead in early-morning crash near Morrinsville

One person is dead and another injured after a crash near Morrinsville early this morning.

Emergency services were called to Kereone Rd, near Ngarua, about 5.45am.

The crash happened between Campbell Rd and Pakarau Rd.

The injured person has been taken to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition.

"The section of Kereone Rd will remain closed while the Serious Crash Unit investigates,'' police said.

Diversions have been put in place and motorists are encouraged to find alternative routes, delay travel or expect delays.
